The A3 Tunnel is an important road construction programme in Hndhead, Surrey, UK. The tunnel is 1.9km in length and the longest non estuary tunnel in the country. The tunnel and this blog have also been featured on BBC Radio Solent, BBC South Today, Meridian Tonight and a host of newspapers.

So, with the Hindhead Tunnel well on track for completion by the middle of 2011, what will the next big project be in the south: Ham Barn roundabout?

morning Red Robbo

You would think so but who knows with this government!
If not i'm sure we could proabbly do it together with our shovels and spades! haha

Great to see the progress made. As a daily user of the A3, the opening of the tunnel can't come soon enough!
However, in terms of the next major project, I fear it will have to be a Guildford by-pass/tunnel under the Hogs Back. I can foresee the traffic congestion now occurring where the A31 joins the A3, given that the North bound flow will no longer be "regulated" by the Hindhead lights. Hope to be proved wrong!

hey CB,
many thanks for your comments mate.
I agree with you to a certain degree although I don't think it will be as bad as yout hink mate as it will be constat flows of traffic, obviously around rush hour might be a bit bad but you never know.
I dont think the current government would allow it would they???? unless it's made by cheap foreign workers and made out of lego perhaps??
