The A3 Tunnel is an important road construction programme in Hndhead, Surrey, UK. The tunnel is 1.9km in length and the longest non estuary tunnel in the country. The tunnel and this blog have also been featured on BBC Radio Solent, BBC South Today, Meridian Tonight and a host of newspapers.

A3 Tunnel
The A3 Tunnel is an important road construction programme in the UK. The tunnel is 1.9km in length and will free the horrendous bottleneck on the A3 at Hindhead.The scheme has been around for 25 years. Works on site commenced in March 2007 and the tunnel digging commenced in Feb 2008. The tunnel diameter is 7.3m. The tunnels and road will be formally opened in 2011. This blog charts the progress of the tunnel and invites pictures and comments from the public,residents,contractors & commuters to form a social record of this civil engineering event . Comments will be moderated to stop spamming and the like.
There is a brilliant A3 blog linked on the left which also has a great amount of content and has been extremely popular to date.
