Howdy everyone,
All the tickets for the planeed walk through event are now all sold out. Well done to all the lucky folks that were able to get tickets for the day and very unlucky to the unfortunate ones not to get tickets.
I have had loads of comments from lots of you that experienced problems. I have been in contact with the Hindhead Together team and I hope to be getting a statement from them shortly.
Until then I look forward to meeting lots of you on the day - if you see me walking through then please feel free to come and say hi be great to meet you all!
Keep on diggin.......

I am SO disappointed that the tickets have sold out. What on earth is going on that they couldn't provide enough to satisfy demand? We've quietly suffered for the last 4 years, and the promise of a walkthrough as a 'thank you' has been something my wife and I have looked forward to for a long time. It's crushing that so few tickets have been provided. I can't exaggerate our disappointment.
Surely SOMETHING can be done? This is literally a once in a lifetime opportunity. PLEASE?!
Does anyone know the point of Hindhead Together. They came up with a Concept Statement that a reception class at the primary school could have produced. They talked of a big event with running , cycling, walking etc to celebrate the opening. They have delivered a farce, where local residents who have endured 4 years of traffic are either unable to obtain tickets or if they are lucky enough to get them have to pay (to walk, but not cycle or run.
Hindhead still no closer to redevelopment and local residents upset by badly managed opening event.
I agree it is farcical that given the walk-through was promised so long ago they can't now make it possible for so many people.
I'd been looking forward to the tunnel walk for ages now (like other posters i'm along suffering Hindhead resident). So much talk of it being a community day and yet my work colleagues from as far away as Guildford have seen adverts for it. Tunnelers couldnt give a damn about locals, only some free publicity. Having to be bussed in and charged £6 was the final straw, i'm just waiting for it all to go away now...
Not sure if tickets can be transferred as my friend who was comming with us has broken a vertabrae in his back so won't now be able to attend.

Hi Andy,
Oh dear I hope your friend is ok and recovers quickly wihtout any lasting damage - sounds very painful!
Best thing would be to go onto the hindhead together website and either call or email Caroline White. She will be able to help you further my friend.
look forward to seeing you there!
gummy
Thanks for advice. Yes he's progressing well and no nerve damage but back to outpatients next week.
oh good hopefully he'll be back on his feet in no time then!
did you get hold of Caroline?
I wrote an email to Caroline expressing my disappointment. That was a couple of weeks ago and no reply. I agree with the poster above, Hindhead Together clearly doesn't give a damn about local residents. What a shame that they had to leave such a sour taste in our mouths.
I believe it's the walk through today. I hope everyone has a lovely day. My wife and I will use our imaginations since we'll now never have the opportunity to do it.
Thanks Hindhead Together ... for nothing,
Like others I agree that Hindhead Together, which appears to be funded by Surrey County Council as Caroline White has an email address there, has been unable to organise a sensible allocation of tickets with groups from many miles away getting preference over local individuals who were forced to try to use the terrible website. This appears to have been a terrible waste of taxpayers money.
what a surprise. The opportunity to share with the community a truly amazing feat of engineering has turned into a huge joke and only seems to be for the self appointed Hindhead together team to enjoy while the rest of us miss out again. They will probably the same individual working alongside the ticket allocation for the Olympics!
Really missed a trick to involve the community. what a waste!!!!!
If I get a reply from Caroline to the positive then I should have a ticket spare that my friend can no longer use (see previous posts). However, it may just become a £6 donation to the fund.
Update:
Got a reply from Caroline allowing me to substitute another friend for the one who broke his back. I will print out the email and take it with me just in case.... My friend is progressing well - on his feet walking for short periods but has to keep one of those litter pickers handy in case he drops anything on the floor.
That wonderful slow booking system only let me book 1 ticket at the first attempt(in 2hrs) only showing me the quantity box at the second attempt when I waited for 15mins. So I have a single spare in my name for 2:08 if anyone local wants to contact me and I will see if it can be transferred. I then went on again to book 3 tickets all at the same time (the ones I am using saturday). Contact me via Email as hidden in my earlier post .
Have you found someone for it yet?
If not then email me on dave.work@hotmail.co.uk and I will put a post online saying 1st come 1st served and to contact me and then i can contact you with their detaials.
Glad your freind is on the mend please send them all our best wishes from myself and everyone that reads my blog
Andy,
please email me your telephone number mate
i have got someone for your spare ticket
cheers
Oh well Richard enjoyed the tunnel walk in place of my friend with the broken back - thanks for helping get the ticket to a deserving friend. No one replied to my posts above.
What are you going to do with the blog when the tunnel opens?
Great job you have done...
Andy..
